Denmark Head Coach Brian Riemer Addresses Media Ahead of Crucial World Cup Qualifier Against Scotland

In a press conference held prior to Tuesday’s crucial World Cup qualifier against Scotland, Denmark’s head coach Brian Riemer shared insights on his team’s preparations and mindset. With only a draw needed to secure the top spot in Group C and ensure qualification for next year’s finals, the stakes could not be higher.

Here’s a closer look at Riemer’s remarks:

Riemer addressed concerns about a sickness bug circulating within the squad. He confirmed that forward Rasmus Hojlund has traveled with the team and is feeling fit after missing the previous match against Belarus. However, questions remain regarding whether Hojlund will start or take a place on the bench.

In a more somber note, winger Anders Dreyer has been sent home after reporting illness upon waking up.

Highlighting the significance of the upcoming match, Riemer characterized it as “massive.” He emphasized, “I can’t imagine anything that could be bigger right now. There’s nothing bigger for me and for our team.”

While Riemer and his players hold a healthy respect for their Scottish opponents, they also exude confidence in their own abilities. He lauded Scotland’s head coach, Steve Clarke, calling his work over the past five to six years “amazing,” especially noting the team’s qualification for the last two European Championships.

Despite navigating a few “bumps” during the qualifying campaign, Riemer assured fans that Denmark will be “fired up” for the match, with a roster boasting “great players who will start the game” and “great players on the bench.”

Reflecting on Saturday’s surprising draw against Belarus, Riemer stated, “We play for a World Cup ticket tomorrow. What happened in the first game, the second game, and the fifth game is completely irrelevant at this stage.”

For Riemer and his team, the World Cup remains “the big dream” and a primary target for the squad.

As for playing in front of a packed Hampden Park, the Denmark manager looks forward to a vibrant atmosphere and a thrilling match.
