Authorities Intensify Search for Brown University Shooter

On Tuesday, law enforcement officials ramped up efforts to locate the gunman responsible for the tragic shooting at Brown University in Rhode Island, which occurred on Saturday. The incident resulted in the deaths of two students and injuries to nine others.

As the snow blanketed the university’s campus, agents from the FBI combed through the area, meticulously searching for clues. Footage shared on social media showcased their diligent efforts as they scoured the surroundings of the university buildings.

The chaos unfolded in the midst of exams when an armed individual entered one of the university’s facilities and unleashed gunfire before fleeing the scene. In a bid to aid the investigation, authorities in Providence released surveillance footage showing a suspect walking through a nearby residential neighborhood.

Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez urged the community to scrutinize the video, emphasizing that even subtle details in body movements or posture might prove vital in identifying the shooter. He also encouraged residents who may have recorded the incident to turn over any footage to police.

“We’ve received approximately 200 valuable leads so far,” Chief Perez reported, highlighting the community’s involvement in the investigation.

Initially, a man in his twenties was detained in connection with the shooting, but he was released on Sunday after authorities determined he was not involved. In light of the ongoing search, Kash Patel, director of the FBI, announced a reward of $50,000—equivalent to over 300,000 Danish kroner—for information leading to an arrest.

The FBI has classified the suspect as armed and dangerous, describing him as approximately 173 centimeters tall with a strong build. In a statement issued on Tuesday, Brown University appealed to students who were in the vicinity of the shooting to come forward and share any information, reinforcing that even the smallest detail could be crucial to solving the case.
