Former Super League player Nicolaj Thomsen has announced the conclusion of his playing career while continuing his journey with the 1st division club B93, a transition he revealed on Instagram.
“I am hanging up my boots at B93, but I’m not saying goodbye to the club. Instead, I’ll be stepping into the office as Creative Lead, where I’ll help shape B93’s next chapter,” the midfielder shared with his followers.
At 32, Thomsen, hailing from North Jutland, first made his mark in football with AaB, where he played a pivotal role in the squad that clinched the Danish championship in 2014. That year also saw him earn a spot on the international stage, as he made his debut in a friendly against Romania.
His career took him to France when he joined Nantes in the summer of 2016, but success in the foreign league eluded him. Just over six months later, he returned to Denmark after FC Copenhagen secured his services on a contract that would last until the summer of 2021.
During his time with FCK, Thomsen contributed to two more Danish championships, standing out particularly in the 2018/19 season. After his tenure in the capital, he had brief spells with Norway’s Vålerenga and Sönderjyske.
In 2022, Thomsen made the move to B93, then competing in the 2nd division. Under his influence, the Østerbro club ascended to the second tier and has since solidified its position there.
This marks a significant shift for Thomsen, who now looks forward to influencing the club’s future from a new vantage point.
