18-year-old seriously injured during arrest – more witnesses wanted
The Police Complaints Authority is still missing witnesses to the arrest of an 18-year-old man at Jomfru Anes Gård in Aalborg.
The Police Prosecution Service is still looking for witnesses in a case from Aalborg, where an 18-year-old man was seriously injured during an arrest.
This was announced by the Independent Police Complaints Authority, DUP, on Monday in an email to Ritzau.
After the arrest, the injured person was initially apparently paralyzed from the neck down. The Norwegian media outlet VG previously reported this.
He underwent surgery at a Danish hospital and has since been transferred for continued medical treatment in Norway, where he is from, VG reported the other day.
The arrest took place at Jomfru Anes Gård at approximately two o’clock in the morning on June 15th.
The North Denmark Police decided to inform the Police Complaints Authority, which then initiated an investigation into what happened.
Some witnesses have already come forward, the email states.
“But we would still like to be in contact with witnesses who witnessed the incident,” writes a special consultant from the Police Complaints Authority to Ritzau.
The request applies to access to photos or videos of the incident, both before and after the police arrived.
Rejected by doorman
Jomfru Anes Gård borders Jomfru Ane Gade, and several people were at the scene when the police arrived.
VG has reported that the 18-year-old was on a city tour with several acquaintances, and at one point the group reached Zwei Grosse Bier Bar.
The 18-year-old went outside to get some fresh air, but was refused entry by the doorman. An argument ensued, and the police were called.
The young man has told the Norwegian media that he was thrown to the ground and that his throat was then squeezed.
On June 20, he was flown home to Denmark. VG wrote the other day that his condition had improved, but that he still lacked mobility in his legs and right arm.
