18-year-old’s death after Skive Festival was not due to dangerous drugs
18-year-old woman found dead after festival. Examination shows no traces of drugs or medication.
The article was updated at 2:11 p.m. with information about the cause of traces of fentanyl in the women’s blood.
A dangerous substance was not the cause of the death of an 18-year-old woman on June 8, after she had spent the previous day at Skive Festival, writes the Central and Western Jutland Police on X.
“The forensic chemical examination shows no traces of euphoric substances or drugs,” says the police district on X.
“We therefore have no further information for the public about the case,” the police add.
The 18-year-old woman was found dead in her home, and police said they would investigate the death further to determine a cause of death. Although police said there was no connection between the woman’s death and her participation in the festival, they felt it was necessary to provide information about the woman’s death and the investigation into it.
This was due to a case from the festival, where the police initially assessed that there might be fentanyl in circulation at the festival, when two guests had to be hospitalized. The two young guests were sent to the hospital on June 5, and the next day urine tests showed traces of fentanyl.
This prompted the police to conduct a safety review of the festival’s tent site. The police also issued a warning that a dangerous substance was in circulation. However, in a press release on June 8, it was stated that the health authorities could not conclude that the two had consumed the substance at the festival.
The reason the two festival guests had traces of fentanyl is probably because they received the drug as a medical preparation when they were hospitalized. Police stated that the festival guests had been treated correctly.
