During a constitutional hearing, a 19-year-old man admitted to having committed an assault on a nine-year-old girl at the National Fair.

A 19-year-old man from Ikast admitted on Saturday to having sexually assaulted a nine-year-old girl during the National Fair in Herning.

After a constitutional hearing at the Court in Viborg, the man has been remanded in custody until July 14, writes TV Midtvest.

The man admitted to the assault after the charges against him were read out during the court hearing.

The charge concerns rape during a sexual relationship other than intercourse.

According to Anders Bøje Hansen, chief of police at the Central and West Jutland Police, the man took the girl into a bush.

After this, the girl was allegedly groped and subjected to the assault, which occurred at some point during Friday afternoon.

“She told her mother yesterday (Friday, ed.) afternoon, and then we looked for him, and then we found him last night and arrested him,” the chief of police explained.

Among other things, the 19-year-old man’s personal circumstances must be investigated, according to TV Midtvest, before it is decided what punishment he should be given.

The Herning National Fair takes place this year from July 3 to 5. It is one of Northern Europe’s largest animal exhibitions, and according to Messecenter Herning, it had over 50,000 visitors last year.
