Brøndby’s mayor: “We’ve simply had enough in Vestegnen”
Today’s immigration is an economic gain for Denmark, but in Brøndby, since 2022, there have been 0 to 11 reception classes for children who do not speak Danish, and that is too much, believes Mayor Maja Højgaard (S).
The immigration of foreign labor is in several areas the great success story of our time – the room for maneuver is growing, the business community is rejoicing, and at the same time, immigration seems to be able to maintain the population in the coming decades, when the population would otherwise shrink significantly as a result of our low fertility. But you think that the problems with immigration are being ignored. Why is that?
“Because we simply experience that if we are to give the children who come here with immigration and foreign labor the kind of childhood that we in Denmark think is the standard, it really costs a lot in the municipal treasury, and there is a long way to go before they experience the same care and welfare that we generally think children should have in Denmark.”
