Denmark has officially unveiled its roster for the rapidly approaching Olympic Games, showcasing a compelling mix of talent that includes seven NHL players, while the rest are drawn from European leagues. The Danish team is eager to build on the momentum gained during last spring’s World Championship, particularly after achieving a remarkable quarterfinal upset against Canada.

Morten Green, General Manager of the Danish national ice hockey team, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We have selected a squad that combines experience, world-class talent, and an intense desire to succeed. We are excited to see them don the lion emblem and represent Denmark to the best of their abilities. While we approach the Olympics with great respect for the challenge ahead, we are equally determined to be competitive in every game.”

The standout player on Denmark’s roster is undoubtedly Nikolaj Ehlers, a forward for the Carolina Hurricanes. With over 700 NHL games under his belt, Ehlers brings invaluable experience to the ice. Reflecting on his selection, he shared his sentiments with the Danish Ice Hockey Federation: “The Olympics are the pinnacle of competition, and it’s an event I’ve closely followed since childhood. Watching the best players in the world face off was something special, so earning the chance to represent Denmark is truly a dream come true.”

Ehlers also acknowledged the challenges ahead: “It promises to be an exhilarating experience filled with intense matchups. With many games packed into a short timeframe, we must hit the ground running and remain focused. The results we achieved during Olympic qualification and at the World Championship in Herning were fantastic, and we need to carry that momentum forward. We’re committed to giving everything we have for Denmark and proudly wearing the lion on our chests.”

Denmark is set to kick off its Olympic journey on February 12 against Germany in the group stage. Following that, they will face off against the United States on February 14 before concluding the group stage against Latvia on February 15.
