Frustration in Copenhagen: “Huge abuse of the rules for short-term rentals”

Ahead of the summer holidays and the massive tourist rush, Copenhagen’s mayor for technology and the environment is asking for help to control Airbnb rentals. But a majority in the Folketing refuses to do anything now.

Jørgen Steen Larsen is frustrated, to say the least. Time and again he has tried to get the City of Copenhagen to take action against a neighbor who, in his opinion, rents out his private home to tourists far more than the law allows.

By meticulously reviewing the reviews that tourists have given the neighbor on the rental portal Airbnb, Jørgen Steen Larsen believes he can demonstrate that the home in Badstuestræde in inner Copenhagen is rented out far more than the permitted 70 days per year.
