Sønderborg Teenager Hugo A Triumphs as “X Factor” Winner 2026
In a thrilling culmination of talent and perseverance, 16-year-old Hugo A emerged as the champion of “X Factor” 2026, captivating audiences across Denmark. The secondary school student from Sønderborg clinched victory on a lively Friday night, marking the 19th edition of the show’s Danish journey since its debut in 2008.
The vibrant finale unfolded before a packed house at the SJF Bank Arena in Odense, with seasoned host Maria Fantino guiding viewers through the evening. Hugo A was mentored by Benjamin Hav, who also marked his first year as a judge on the show—an auspicious start, as it’s the first time one of his contestants has taken home the coveted title.
All the judges featured this season had a finalist in the competitive showdown, which not only celebrated Hugo A but also highlighted Hevi, under the guidance of Thomas Blachman, and Ella Sophia, mentored by Drew Sycamore.
Each finalist took to the stage three times: the first performance was a judge-selected song, followed by a duet with a renowned artist, culminating in their individual hit. Hugo A kicked off his performances with a captivating rendition of Michael Jackson’s iconic “Thriller,” before joining forces with Saveus—better known as Martin Hedegaard, the winner of Denmark’s inaugural season in 2008.
As the evening progressed, Hevi claimed second place, with Ella Sophia securing third. The competition intensified during the first viewer vote, with Hevi and Hugo A going head-to-head, ultimately performing their winning song—a collaboration they co-wrote.
In the end, it was Hugo A who garnered the most votes, sealing his triumph and allowing him to once again perform his winning piece, “Golden 24.” The song, crafted by Lukas Forchhammer of Lukas Graham fame alongside producer Emil Falk, proved to be a fitting choice for the occasion.
Beyond the accolades and recognition, Hugo A also snagged a record contract with Universal Music Denmark. The opportunities don’t end there; he will receive personalized training from industry experts, ensuring he’s well-equipped to navigate the music landscape as a budding artist. Additionally, the Danish Songwriting Academy has committed to nurturing future songwriting talent, announcing a specialized camp in honor of this year’s victor.
To further support his artistic journey, Hugo A will also be gifted a home studio, a space where he can hone his craft and create music in his own environment.
Hugo A’s journey, marked by dedication and talent, has truly resonated, setting the stage for what promises to be a bright future in the music industry.
