Klarlund’s column: Men’s health is a paradox
The difference in life expectancy between men and women is remarkable, and the excess mortality among men is partly a mystery.
Men’s lifespan is shorter than women’s. This picture is repeated almost all over the world, shows another new study that analyzed health data from up to 200 countries and territories.
Women are more likely to think they are sick, they go to the doctor more often and take more medication. Men say they are in good health. Therefore, it is a paradox that women live longer than men, while at the same time getting sick more. We are talking about a difference of almost 4 years.
