Man deported for raping 16-year-old girl on regional train

A 33-year-old man is deported from Denmark and sentenced to two years and six months in prison for raping a 16-year-old girl.

A 33-year-old man is sentenced to two years and six months in prison for rape and indecent assault of a 16-year-old girl on a regional train between Køge and Østerport in January.

He is also expelled from Denmark with a six-year entry ban.

This was decided on Friday in the Court in Roskilde.

According to the prosecution, the man assaulted the girl in several places on the train. The actual rape took place in the toilet.

The court found this proven and sentenced him according to the indictment.

The episode took place on a regional train towards Østerport on January 7th, just after noon. Both the 33-year-old and the 17-year-old girl were on the train at Køge Station.

Chased her through the train

The man does not speak Danish, but explained through an interpreter in court that he had struck up a conversation with the girl under one of the station’s departure boards.

An eyewitness said that the girl got into the car and made some kind of signal to the man, who came and sat next to her. Shortly after, he began touching the girl and kissing her.

The girl, who turned 16 in January, wore a sunflower string, which signals invisible disabilities such as developmental disabilities or cognitive difficulties.

Something he claims not to have seen.

The girl explained behind closed doors that it was the man who initiated the sexual act and that she had not given consent.

She also explained that she tried to escape, but that the man had followed her through the train and locked them both in the toilet, where he assaulted her.

The court finds the girl’s statement credible due to her very precise descriptions and the physical evidence found on her pants.

According to the man, it was the girl who had pulled him into the toilet and done things to him that he didn’t want to.

“I froze completely and didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t resist her,” he said during the trial.

It was not found credible that the 16-year-old girl would be capable of doing so.

The 33-year-old man is appealing the case to the High Court.
