Mette Frederiksen takes issue with NATO chief’s flattery towards Trump

It is simplistic to give Donald Trump full credit for the NATO countries’ decision to spend more money, says the Prime Minister, who is also surprised by the treatment of the Ukrainian president.

As one of the first European heads of state and government, Mette Frederiksen (S) sends two diplomatic messages in the direction of NATO Secretary General, Mark Rutte, on the heels of the historic NATO summit in The Hague.

Firstly, she believes that it is a distorted representation of reality when Rutte, in text messages and public statements, gave US President Donald Trump all the credit for the European countries’ decision to massively increase defense investments in Europe.
