Pusher sentenced to prison for causing the deaths of two women

The court in Aarhus rules in favor of the prosecution in an unusual case against a 26-year-old drug dealer. He immediately appeals.

A drug dealer was convicted on Thursday in a case of negligent manslaughter in relation to two young women who died after he gave them drugs. The court in Aarhus has sentenced the 26-year-old man to two years and six months in prison.

The two women died after taking a lethal amount of pills – in one woman’s case in combination with cocaine. They both lived in the 26-year-old’s apartment in Brabrand during the last days of their lives.

The man has previously admitted that he sold pills to the girls and to anyone else who was interested. He told of wild parties where he and the young women stayed awake for several days with the help of pills and drugs. But he denied pressuring the women to take excessive amounts of pills and drugs.

“I didn’t put anything in anyone’s mouth. The girls chose to take it themselves,” the court heard.

Was first charged with murder

The case is called deeply unfortunate by special prosecutor Jesper Rubow, as two young people lost their lives.

“Professionally and legally, I am very satisfied that the Aarhus Court agreed with the prosecution’s assessment of the case,” he says in a press release from the East Jutland Police.

The women were 18 and 23 years old. Their survivors have been awarded compensation of approximately 113,000 kroner and 123,000 kroner, respectively, writes Århus Stiftstidende. The deaths occurred in July and September 2023.

Initially, the police decided to charge the man with murder, but when the case was brought to court after a long investigation and subsequent legal proceedings, the charges were for negligent manslaughter under particularly aggravating circumstances and for intentionally exposing the women to danger.

During the trial, the man pleaded not guilty. He will appeal the verdict in the unusual case to the Western High Court, according to his defense attorney, Niels Lyhne.
