Revenue at Tesla’s subsidiary in Denmark plunged last year to 5.3 billion kroner from 8.1 billion.
Challenges are gradually piling up for the American electric car manufacturer Tesla, which has recently seen sales plunge in the European market.
This also applies to the Danish subsidiary, Tesla Motors Denmark ApS.
The Danish company’s revenue fell last year to 5.3 billion kroner, which is 2.8 billion kroner less than the year before, when revenue was 8.1 billion kroner.
This is shown in the company’s annual report for 2024, according to Børsen.
At this time, the company does not expect to reverse the trend this year. Tesla itself expects to deliver between 10 and 15 percent fewer cars to Denmark in 2025, according to the financial statements.
Sales of new Tesla cars in Denmark during 2025 have also not followed the same level as in previous years. This is shown by calculations from Mobility Denmark based on figures from Bilstatistik.dk.
Sales of new Tesla cars in Denmark were more than halved in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2024.
In the first three months of the year, 1,549 new Tesla cars were registered in this country, compared to 3,556 last year.
In May, Tesla’s Model Y once again crept into the top ten of Danes’ favorite passenger cars.
A total of almost 18,000 new passenger cars were registered in Denmark, of which 674 were Tesla’s Model Y.
In April, Tesla was pushed out of the top ten and, with 180 registered cars, was only the 19th best-selling car brand in Denmark.
But even though Tesla is once again in the top ten of car buyers, it is still far from the dominant position Tesla previously had in the car market.
In 2024, Tesla’s Model Y was by far the best-selling car in Denmark. In addition, the company’s Model 3 was the fourth best-selling car.
In May this year, the most cars registered were the Skoda Elroq. The same was true in April.
Throughout 2025, there has been a lot of focus on Tesla CEO Elon Musk. He burst onto the political scene in the United States and took on a prominent role in President Donald Trump’s administration.
As late as Thursday, the focus was once again on both Tesla’s Musk and Trump after the two began a war of words criticizing each other.
After this, Tesla shares fell by almost 14.3 percent on Thursday after the stock market closed.
This represented a decrease in Tesla’s market value of $150 billion – 977 billion kroner.
