The police filed an unusual case against the leadership of the Danish Parliament
Copenhagen Police have prioritized questionable cases of terrorist condoning, as the government wanted, while a case of violation of the Criminal Code and human rights in the leadership of the Folketing was put aside.
The Copenhagen Police acknowledge that they have downgraded a case in which the leadership of the Folketing was reported to the police almost 16 months ago. The case was reported in March 2024, after the state attorney, the Attorney General, had determined that the administration of the Folketing had violated the Criminal Code, EU data protection rules and the Human Rights Convention by reviewing the mailboxes of a number of members of the Folketing and employees to find an email from a citizen.
The Copenhagen Police now explain that the case has been downgraded, and this has happened because the police have been busy investigating cases of terrorist condoning, among other things. These are cases that the government has pressed for, where citizens on social media have written about the war in Gaza in favor of the Palestinians. The cases have been filed, even though the Attorney General has acknowledged that some of them have been questionable.
