Threats from East and West dominate the government’s EU plans
A myriad of topics fill the government’s program for the next six months of the EU presidency. Defense, security and Ukraine overshadow most, while Israel is only mentioned in a passing sentence.
It was with an attempt at historic momentum when European Affairs Minister Marie Bjerre (V) presented the SVM government’s priorities for the Danish EU presidency, which runs from July 1 to the New Year, in an almost full parliament hall at Christiansborg.
“Never again than April 9th,” was the statement from Bjerre, who quoted almost all Danes who lived in the years after the end of World War II.
