“Unfortunately”: 28-year-old involuntarily hospitalized woman received a boring message in e-Boks

The deprivation of liberty has been completed, the patient has moved on, and few people can remember what happened when a complaint about forced hospitalization finally comes up for consideration, patient advisors point out.

Henrik Juul Hansen is a patient advisor in the capital area and is responsible for helping mentally ill people complain if they believe they are being subjected to unjustified coercion.

A few months ago, he spoke to a 28-year-old woman who had been forcibly admitted to Amager Psychiatric Center. The woman wanted to complain about the deprivation of liberty, and Henrik Juul Hansen filled out a complaint form, which was sent to the Psychiatric Patient Complaints Board.
