The woman wanted revenge on the man after he had subjected her to violence and theft. It ended fatally.

The article was updated at 16:23 with more information about the verdict.

A disagreement ended fatally for a 28-year-old man who lost his life last year after being stabbed several times with a knife by a woman on Amager. The stabbing took place on July 3rd shortly after midnight. The two had gotten into a conflict outside a parking lot on Amagerfælledvej, which ended with the woman stabbing the man several times with a knife.

The Copenhagen City Court sentenced the 26-year-old woman to six years and three months in prison on Thursday for aggravated assault resulting in death. The woman admitted to stabbing the man, but explained that she acted in self-defense because she panicked and feared for her life.

They had known each other for a little over three weeks prior to the incident, where the man had once punched her in the face after an argument and stolen her phone.

The woman had subsequently expressed that she would reciprocate. One evening, when they met at his apartment, she said that she would withdraw 5,000 kroner to get her phone back.

Outside a parking lot, she punched him in the back of the head, causing him to choke her, preventing her from breathing. She then instinctively pulled a knife from her pocket and stabbed him in the thigh and chest.

The 28-year-old let go of his grip and ran about 100 meters before falling over. The woman then stabbed him in the back because, according to her own account, she feared he would try to grab her again. She left the scene shortly afterwards.

The court emphasizes that the woman’s attack cannot be assessed as self-defense, and that her actions contributed to escalating the situation unnecessarily. In addition, the court believes that she did not do enough to help the 28-year-old man when he was in a helpless state after being stabbed several times.

The woman is considering whether to appeal the verdict. In court, she apologized to the deceased’s relatives and explained that it was not her intention to kill him, but that she panicked and did not know what to do.
