Christian Eriksen Expresses Desire to Return to Denmark After Football Career
Christian Eriksen has revealed his heartfelt intention to return to Denmark with his family when he eventually hangs up his boots, marking the end of a remarkable career.
Despite nearly two decades spent abroad, gracing some of Europe’s largest clubs, Eriksen has held on tightly to his Danish roots. The 33-year-old national team stalwart, who joined Wolfsburg this summer with a contract extending to 2027, currently makes his home in Germany with his loved ones. Yet, when he thinks about life after football, Denmark is where he envisions his future.
In an interview with Wolfsburger Allgemeine, Eriksen candidly expressed, “Denmark is our home,” conveying a sense of peace that he finds in his native land.
“It’s a relaxed place. They love football, but they also respect your privacy,” he noted, reflecting on the balance he cherishes as he reminisces about his journey—from leaving Odense at the tender age of 16 to embark on a new chapter at Ajax.
Eriksen’s sentiments resonate with many, underlining the strong ties he continues to nurture with his homeland even amidst a successful career abroad.
