EU bans breeding and production of mink

Although the Danish government voted against, a majority of EU member states adopted a ban on the breeding and production of mink, effective from 2027.

So it happened. The date June 20, 2025 will go down in history as the day it was decided to ban the breeding and production of mink throughout the EU.

This is the consequence of a majority of EU member states voting in favour of an amendment to the EU regulation on invasive species, which means that mink will henceforth be considered an invasive species throughout the EU.
