Kasper Høgh’s Stellar Performances Spark World Cup Consideration
As the clock ticks down to Denmark’s crucial World Cup qualifiers next month, Kasper Høgh’s impressive run with Bodø/Glimt is placing him firmly in the spotlight for a potential starting position. National team manager Brian Riemer emphasizes that Høgh’s recent performances could be pivotal for Denmark’s aspirations.
In an interview with Viaplay Sport News, Riemer articulated his confidence: “There has been skepticism surrounding his ability to compete at a higher level while playing in Norway. But with his remarkable displays against teams like Manchester City, Atlético Madrid, and Inter, we can no longer question his caliber. What he’s achieved is undeniably significant,” Riemer stated.
Høgh, who has been in formidable form this season, has already notched up five goals in the Champions League, in addition to three goals in the qualifiers. Last season, he stood shoulder to shoulder with names like Bruno Fernandes and Ayoub El Kaabi as the top scorer in the Europa League, each finishing with seven goals.
“Much has changed for him since last autumn, and it’s been exciting to watch his progress. I can confirm that Kasper is very much on our radar as we prepare for the World Cup playoff draw in March,” Riemer added, underscoring the respect Høgh has earned.
Høgh has also represented Denmark in age-specific international matches, with his last appearance coming back in 2019. On March 26, he stands on the brink of his senior debut against North Macedonia, a match that could shape Denmark’s future. Should they triumph, a showdown with either Ireland or the Czech Republic awaits in the final playoff for a coveted World Cup place.
As anticipation builds for both Høgh and the national team, his journey from a promising player at Bodø/Glimt to a key figure in Denmark’s World Cup ambitions is a story worth following.
