Two young Swedish girls suspected of being ordered to commit murder

Prosecutors will go to court on Tuesday in an attempt to extradite a 16-year-old Swedish girl. She is charged with attempted murder.

Two Swedish girls, aged just 14 and 15, were ordered by police to try to kill a man in Herning last year. One girl is too young to be punished, but the police want the other one extradited so she can be tried in Denmark.

That is why prosecutor Christian Skov Poulsen from the Central and West Jutland Police is going to court on Tuesday morning, where he wants a prison sentence for the now 16-year-old girl.

“It’s to get an extradition case started,” he says.

Christian Skov Poulsen will not say whether the girl is being held abroad or at large. The girl is charged with attempted murder for having arrived at a house in Herning with the other Swedish girl early in the morning of June 10, 2024. They had a gun with them.

The intention was to shoot and kill a man, but since he was not present at the address, the killing failed, the charges state. It is unknown how the girls stand in the case.

’Crime as a service’

According to the prosecutor, the case involves a phenomenon known in the police as ‘crime as a service’, which covers the fact that young Swedes in particular are recruited to commit crime in Denmark. However, Christian Skov Poulsen cannot comment on why someone would kill the man in Herning. The man did not immediately have any connections to a gang.

He also says that several people are being investigated in the case. A 28-year-old man was remanded in custody in January in the case and confessed to having participated in the attempted murder by planning and coordinating it. His case has been investigated and is now being assessed by the prosecution at the Midt- og Vestjyllands Police.

Another man is also under investigation in the case of the attempted murder in Herning. At the same time that the 28-year-old was remanded in custody, a 22-year-old Swedish man was charged with also having helped coordinate the attempted murder in Herning. He is also in custody. The 22-year-old has since been charged with recruiting, in particular, Swedish teenagers in five cases to attempt murder in Denmark. His case will go to trial next year.
