DAO clearly beats PostNord in new postal survey

DAO is praised by the authorities for having improved its mail delivery considerably over the past six months.

The distribution company DAO will be Denmark’s new postal company when state-owned PostNord drops letter delivery at the turn of the year.

And there is some indication that mail delivery will not be any worse for that reason.

In a new survey conducted by the Danish Transport Authority, DAO has delivered 99 percent of the letters the company distributes within five days. In the case of PostNord, this only applies to 90 percent of the letters.

DAO is owned by JP/Politikens Hus, Jysk Fynske Medier and Berlingske Media.

This is a significant improvement on DAO’s part, as in a similar measurement in December, the company only managed to deliver 88 percent of letters within five days.

Line Elikofer, head of the postal department at the Danish Transport Authority, is pleased with this development.

“The study shows that both DAO and PostNord get the mail out. For DAO, there has also been clear progress in terms of delivery time, which indicates that the company has found the level as a nationwide distributor,” she says, adding:

“For us as a postal authority, it is positive to see.”

The latest measurement was carried out by the Danish Transport Authority sending 2,616 standard letters to recipients throughout the country.

Subsequently, the recipients reported when they received the letters.

Half was sent with DAO, and the other half was sent with PostNord.
