New Delhi, February 10 (ANI) — Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, Denmark’s Ambassador to India, has expressed his joy at completing a remarkable year in his diplomatic role.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media platform X, he reflected, “I am honored to conclude my first year as Denmark’s Ambassador to India. I am deeply thankful for the warmth, partnerships, and shared ambition I have experienced throughout this journey. As I look back with appreciation, I am filled with optimism for what lies ahead.” Alongside his words, he shared a brief video capturing the essence of his year.

The foundations of diplomacy between India and Denmark date back to September 1949, rooted in a shared history and common democratic values, alongside a mutual commitment to fostering peace and stability on both regional and global fronts.

The relationship has since evolved, notably reaching the status of a “Green Strategic Partnership” during a Virtual Summit held on September 28, 2020, where Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

This Green Strategic Partnership now guides the expanding horizon of India-Denmark relations. Prime Minister Modi’s recent official visit to Denmark on May 3 and 4, 2022, featured two significant components: detailed bilateral discussions with PM Frederiksen and the Second India-Nordic Summit, a gathering co-hosted by India and Denmark. During their talks, the Prime Ministers reviewed the progress of their partnership and exchanged views on pressing regional and global issues.

During this visit, Queen Margrethe II warmly welcomed PM Modi, hosting an official dinner in his honor. Furthermore, the Prime Minister engaged with the Indian community in Copenhagen and participated in an India-Denmark Business Forum at the Danish Industry (DI) headquarters.

Significant agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed across various sectors, including migration and mobility, green shipping, cultural exchanges, water resource management, skill development, animal husbandry, and dairying.

On May 4, PM Modi attended the Second India-Nordic Summit alongside his counterparts from Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Finland, where they collectively reviewed India-Nordic relations. The summit concluded with a Joint Statement reaffirming a strong commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, and a robust partnership aimed at fostering innovation, economic growth, climate-friendly solutions, and mutually beneficial trade and investment.

Conversations on the sidelines of the Summit also allowed PM Modi to engage in fruitful discussions with leaders from Finland, Iceland, Sweden, and Norway.

As the year unfolds, the continued collaboration between India and Denmark holds promise for a sustainable and prosperous future.
