Why do Danes “hit a cat out of a barrel” in February, place a single candle in their windows come May, vanish for three weeks in July, and leave a bowl of porridge out for a mythical “gnome” in December? What hidden traditions pepper the Danish year, eluding even the most thorough calendars?

Discover the answers to these peculiar questions and much more in our latest release, *The Danish Year: Twelve Months of Customs, Quirks, and Rhythms of Everyday Life in Denmark.* This insightful exploration is available exclusively on Amazon Kindle for just DK35/USD 5.

(No Kindle? No problem! You can enjoy this short book on your tablet or phone via the Kindle app.)

Why is this book electronic-only?

After over a decade of publishing in print, I’ve opted to launch this book exclusively as an electronic edition on Amazon Kindle. The reasons behind this decision are twofold.

🔴 First, it's a concise read—just 89 pages long—which allows for an affordable price point accessible to most. The online format also permits the inclusion of vibrant illustrations that would have significantly inflated the cost of a print version.

🟡 Additionally, shorter books align better with the contemporary reading habits we see today. With our attention frequently fragmented, even passionate readers like myself find countless half-finished tomes scattered about the house.

The Kindle app allows readers to engage with the book anytime, anywhere—on tablets, phones, or Kindle devices, if you have one (I’m a fan!).

🔴 Finally, digital books have the advantage of adaptability. While this isn’t a news publication, factual nuances (like the name of the Danish Prime Minister) can shift over time. The ability to revise ensures that the content remains relevant and fresh.

A New Strategy

Looking ahead, my approach has evolved. Instead of producing a single, comprehensive volume every few years (like *How to Work in Denmark*, released in 2022), I now aim to write 1-2 shorter books each year.

Some of these will eventually find a home in print, while others will solely exist online as part of my new series, *How to Live in Denmark,* available on Amazon.
