Citybox and NCC Join Forces to Launch Citybox Copenhagen at Islands Brygge
In a noteworthy leap for urban hospitality, Citybox has inked a partnership with NCC to bring Citybox Copenhagen to Islands Brygge—a thriving hub in the heart of the capital. With an impressive 325 rooms, this new hotel promises to be one of the most significant additions to the Citybox portfolio yet and marks a pivotal moment in the company’s expansion within Denmark.
Positioned in one of Copenhagen’s most desirable neighborhoods, the hotel will be just minutes from the city center, Copenhagen Central Station, and a myriad of cultural attractions and waterfront delights. This strategic location ensures guests will have seamless access to everything the vibrant city has to offer, all while helping to bolster the availability of modern hotel options.
For Citybox, this development is a crucial step forward following the recent debut of Citybox Airport Hotel Copenhagen in Kastrup. The collaboration exemplifies NCC’s commitment to creating attractive, forward-thinking properties in the heart of Copenhagen.
Copenhagen has seen a remarkable surge in visitor numbers in recent years, driven by robust demand from both leisure and business travelers. This trend reinforces the city’s status as one of the leading urban destinations in the Nordic region. However, the supply of contemporary, affordable hotel accommodations in central areas remains limited. With its 325 rooms at Islands Brygge, Citybox Copenhagen aims to address this gap through a modern and efficient hotel concept.
The hotel will reflect the signature Citybox approach, which emphasizes efficient operations, digital self-service solutions, and functional design—all within prime locations. This model enables Citybox to deliver comfortable stays at competitive prices, ensuring that quality and guest experience are never sacrificed.
Over the past decade, Islands Brygge has transformed into one of Copenhagen’s most dynamic neighborhoods, blending modern office spaces, residential buildings, eateries, and cultural spots against a picturesque waterfront backdrop. NCC has played a significant role in this revitalization, and the addition of Citybox Copenhagen will seamlessly integrate into the area’s evolving landscape.
“Islands Brygge is a vibrant area with immense potential,” remarked Joachim Holmberg, Head of NCC Property Development. “Our vision is to establish a hotel in one of Copenhagen’s prime locations. The lease agreement with Citybox is a vital first step in this endeavor. We are now focused on securing the right investor and preparing the project for future construction.”
With the forthcoming project, Citybox continues its ambitious expansion throughout the Nordics. Upon completion, Citybox Copenhagen will become the company’s second hotel in Denmark, further solidifying its leadership in the market for modern, budget-friendly accommodations. By that time, Citybox’s presence in Copenhagen will encompass a total of 565 rooms, contributing to a robust portfolio of 2,659 rooms across its current and planned hotels in the Nordic region and beyond.
As the project is still in its preliminary stages, specific timelines for construction and the hotel’s opening remain to be finalized.
