Steve Clarke’s squad faced a pivotal match against Denmark last month, with a place at next year’s tournament hanging in the balance.
In a remarkable display, Scotland triumphed with a 4-2 victory at Hampden Park, thanks to goals from Scott McTominay, Lawrence Shankland, Kieran Tierney, and Kenny McLean.
Fans eager to relive the excitement can catch the full match and highlights on BBC iPlayer, although these will only be accessible until Thursday evening.
Paul McLennan, the MSP for East Lothian, is advocating for a change to this limited accessibility.

During remarks made on Monday, he expressed the sentiment shared by many: “I’m sure I’m not the only Scotland fan wishing to revisit our incredible final qualifying match as we look ahead to next summer.”
“Wouldn’t it be fantastic if the BBC could extend the availability of this match for everyone to watch, right up to the tournament’s kickoff in June?”
Next summer, Scotland will face Brazil, Morocco, and Haiti in the World Cup, which will be hosted across the USA, Mexico, and Canada. This marks a significant moment, as it will be Scotland’s first World Cup appearance in 28 years.
Despite the excitement surrounding the tournament, concerns linger regarding television access. With no current deals in place for future matches, fans fear a return to costly pay-per-view options. However, it has been confirmed that Scotland’s World Cup matches will be broadcast on both BBC and ITV.
Mr. McLennan has voiced his apprehension and is urging both football authorities and broadcasters to collaborate to ensure that future Scotland matches—both men’s and women’s games—remain available for all on free-to-air television. “I urge the footballing authorities, broadcasters, and the UK Government, which manages broadcasting regulations, to unite in making certain that all Scotland matches can be enjoyed by everyone,” he said. “This way, we can inspire a whole new generation to take up sport.”
If successful, McLennan’s call to action would allow the qualifying match to remain available for viewing until Scotland begins their World Cup campaign against Haiti at 2 a.m. UK time on June 14, 2026.
Following that, Clarke’s men will take on Morocco on June 19 at 6 p.m., before concluding the group stage against the five-time World Cup champions, Brazil, on June 24, also at 6 p.m.
