A man who was hospitalized following an incident in Nuuk on Monday has tragically passed away, as confirmed by the Greenland Police in a press release issued on Thursday.
Details surrounding the incident remain sparse, with authorities only revealing that it occurred in the Nuusuaq area of Nuuk. Local media outlet Sermitsiaq has reported that police were responding to suspicious circumstances at a location in the area when they discovered a 27-year-old man with serious injuries. His condition was reported as critical.
In connection with the incident, two other men, aged 20 and 26, were arrested. The older suspect appeared in a constitutional hearing the following day, facing charges of attempted murder.
The specifics of how the alleged crime unfolded, as well as the nature of the relationship among those involved, have not been disclosed. It remains unclear whether any charges will be brought against the 20-year-old suspect.
During the constitutional hearing, the judge decided to remand the 26-year-old for an interim period of four weeks. Details regarding his reaction to the charge or any intentions to appeal the custody order have not been made public.
The police announcement did not clarify whether the charges against the 26-year-old would be altered following the death of the 27-year-old man.
“The investigation is still ongoing, and therefore the Greenland Police have no further comments at this time,” the statement concluded.
