In a city that thrives on its vibrant culture and trendy hotspots, Villa Copenhagen emerges as a true gem.
Housed within the historic Central Post and Telegraph Head Office, constructed in 1912, this hotel beautifully marries the rich heritage of Denmark’s capital with a modern, conscious approach to luxury. Strategically positioned between the meatpacking district and the bustling city center, it enjoys an exquisite balance: ornate yet accessible, it embodies a timeless Scandi-chic aesthetic.
Though Villa Copenhagen officially opened its doors in April 2020 amidst the upheaval of COVID-19 lockdowns, it swiftly carved out a niche for itself in the post-pandemic world, earning accolades for its commitment to conscious luxury and exceptional dining experiences.
Dining and More
By 10:00 a.m., the hotel’s grand, sun-drenched courtyard, topped with a stunning glass ceiling, buzzes with energy. Guests savor gourmet coffees and indulge in in-house baked delicacies. Per Voss Kjærgaard, the Food and Beverage Director, shared with us the hotel’s mission to engage with the wider community, inviting both hotel guests and locals to experience its culinary offerings. Dining at Villa Copenhagen is a delight, with menus focused on fresh, locally sourced ingredients prepared in a sustainable kitchen. Room Options
Villa Copenhagen boasts an impressive range of luxurious accommodations. From standard queen-sized rooms to expansive two-story suites featuring spiral staircases and freestanding baths, each space is thoughtfully designed. Suite interiors are refreshed every couple of years, showcasing unique designs; for instance, the Shamballa Master Suite embraces darker tones and masonry elements, while the Earth Suite offers a lighter atmosphere with wood paneling and copper accents.
The standard rooms are compact, as is common in this region, but their design maximizes space, ensuring a comfortable feel. However, there are no desks or tables, so guests planning to work should head to the courtyard. Amenities in each room include rain shower heads, coffee makers, USB ports, well-stocked mini-bars, and heated bathroom floors.
Various room categories are available, allowing guests to select accommodations that suit their needs. Superior rooms are more spacious, while family rooms can comfortably host two adults and one child. Deluxe rooms come equipped with standing bathtubs and spa-like features. The junior suite, the most expansive option, can also connect to additional rooms for families or groups needing extra space.
Villa Copenhagen offers six unique suite categories, each with bespoke decor. For instance, the Earth Suite is equipped with an earth bike and a punching bag, while the Shamballa Suite, designed by the founders of Shamballa Jewels, includes displays for fine jewelry.

This converted post office is distinctively charming, though its historic nature imposes some limitations on modern amenities. Guests can enjoy a heated outdoor pool, sustainably heated by resources from the kitchen, as well as a small fitness center. However, pool access is limited to one-hour booked slots, with additional hours available at a fee, and the absence of changing rooms can be a downside. Additionally, while recreation is rich, the hotel does not feature a spa on-site.
Location
Conveniently situated across from the Copenhagen Central Rail Station and the historic Tivoli Gardens—one of the world’s oldest amusement parks—Villa Copenhagen is perfectly placed for exploration. Some fortunate guests may even catch the nightly fireworks from their rooms. Just a short stroll from the heart of the city, nearby attractions include the National Museum of Denmark and the historical Christiansborg Palace.
For travelers, the hotel is only a 20- to 30-minute drive from the cruise terminals and a quick 20-minute ride from the airport.
