Boys convicted of violence against homosexuals
Two boys, aged 15 and 16, are guilty of aggravated assault against three homosexual men who were lured by a fake profile.
Two boys, aged 15 and 16, were found guilty on Tuesday of committing serious violence against three homosexual men in Odense.
The judgment was handed down by the Court in Odense.
The boys subjected three men to beatings and kicks after luring the men to meet using a fake profile on a dating app.
In one case, a middle-aged man was so seriously injured that he suffered several minor brain hemorrhages and head injuries that required stitches.
The boys have been sentenced to seven and eight months in prison, respectively. In both cases, one month of the sentence has been made unconditional, while the rest is conditional with a probation period of two years.
This is stated by special prosecutor at the Prosecution Authority of Funen Police Christian Nielsen.
Two other peers were also charged with taking part in one of the assaults, but were acquitted.
The two convicted boys pleaded partially guilty, but argued that they had come to confront pedophiles.
However, according to the prosecutor, there is nothing to support that this is the case.
The victims have unanimously explained that they believed they were going to meet an adult person, as stated in the profile on the dating app.
“I note that the court has found the two guilty of committing aggravated violence against three victims, and that a sentence of a certain length has been imposed,” says Christian Nielsen.
Both the convicted and the prosecution now have two weeks to consider whether the case should be tried in the High Court.
