Police warn of heavy traffic at Roskilde Festival

On Saturday, Roskilde Festival opened parts of the campsite at Dyreskuepladsen, and this causes traffic and queues in several places around Roskilde.

Already on Wednesday, the Danish Road Directorate warned that there could be heavy traffic in the area when the many festival guests arrive.

Saturday, Wednesday July 2nd and Saturday July 5th are expected to be particularly challenging.

On Saturday, particularly heavy traffic is expected on the Holbæk Motorway from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Køgevej between Roskilde and Tjæreby from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Ringstedvej between Route 21 and Gammelgårdsvej from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The next big travel day is expected to be Wednesday, when the festival site opens, and many travelers are expected on Saturday and Sunday next week, when the festival ends.

This year’s festival is number 53 in the series. According to Roskilde Festival itself, more than 130,000 people are expected to attend the festival.
