Strong winds delay ferry between Hirtshals and Norway
Southern Norway is affected by strong winds on Sunday, and a cruise ship has been blown into a pier in Oslo.
If you are traveling by ferry between Hirtshals and Norway on Sunday, you should arm yourself with patience.
The ferry company Color Line has postponed its remaining departures on Sunday between Hirtshals and Larvik as well as Kristiansand in Norway due to weather conditions.
On Color Line’s website it appears, among other things, that the ferry, which was supposed to sail from Kristiansand to Hirtshals at 4:30 p.m., is not expected to sail until 8:30 p.m.
According to the Norwegian news agency NTB, a warning of strong winds has been issued in southern Norway, which is valid throughout Sunday.
In the Agder and Telemark areas, where Kristiansand and Larvik are located, wind gusts of up to 20 meters per second are expected.
The strong winds in Norway are expected to subside later on Sunday evening.
The windy weather has already caused problems for a cruise ship that was due to dock in Norway’s capital, Oslo.
The ship was hit by a gust of wind, and therefore hit the pier sideways.
No people were injured.
Today’s last ferry to Larvik has been temporarily postponed to 00:30 on Monday night, while the last ferry to Hirtshals is expected to depart at 19:30.
North Jutland may also be hit by strong winds on Sunday. According to the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI), there is a risk of storm-force gusts in Jammerbugt, Frederikshavn and Hjørring Municipality.
