The sliced smoked halibut was sold in the Salling chain, but the products were recalled after listeria was found.

Sliced smoked halibut sold in Netto, Bilka and Føtex is being recalled after listeria was found in the products, writes the producer Polar Salmon Hjerting Laks in a press release. Infection with listeria can cause fever, diarrhea and vomiting.

The product is sold in Netto under the brand Premieur with a best-before date of July 18, 2025. In Føtex and Bilka, the halibut is sold under the brand Salling Princip with a best-before date of July 22, 2025. In all stores, the product has the lot number 27749254.

Consumers who have purchased the affected product are urged to discard it or return it to the store where it was purchased.

Listeria can be found in many foods – including meat, vegetables, unpasteurized dairy products and processed fish products. Occasionally, foods are recalled due to the presence of listeria. Failure to do so may result in a police report.

In January, the same Polar Salmon Hjerting Laks was just reported to the police by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration for selling listeria-infected salmon without informing the authorities and without the products being recalled. The police report was based on the fact that listeria had been detected in salmon in analyses from 2023 and 2024, and that the company did not respond to this.
