In a rare address to the nation on Thursday evening, coinciding with Danish time, President Donald Trump took the opportunity to reflect on the achievements of his administration since he assumed office in January. Speaking candidly, he attributed the rising consumer prices to his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden.

“Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m fixing it,” Trump asserted, underscoring his ongoing efforts to navigate a challenging economic landscape. The Republican president, often vocal about feeling underappreciated for his accomplishments, highlighted various successes during his tenure, particularly regarding border security, where he noted that measures have been tightened. He also claimed that prices for specific goods had fallen under his watch.

Addresses of this nature are uncommon in the United States, typically reserved for moments of national crisis or significant political developments. According to Reuters, this speech served as a platform for Trump to directly address American concerns over escalating prices.

While he continued to point fingers at Biden for the inflation, Trump acknowledged that prices remain prohibitively high. “I will lower the high prices, and I will do it very quickly,” he promised, emphasizing his commitment to tackling the issue head-on.

As the nation grapples with economic uncertainty, Trump’s address sought to reassure Americans of his determination to bring about change.
