In a proud moment for both player and nation, Oscar Fisker Mølgaard, the emerging talent from the Seattle Kraken, has earned a spot on Team Denmark’s roster for the 2026 Olympic Games in Milano Cortina.
At just 20 years old, Mølgaard is in the midst of his inaugural season in the AHL, playing for the Coachella Valley Firebirds. His performance thus far has been nothing short of impressive, with six goals and 18 points in 28 games. His exceptional two-way play even caught the attention of NHL officials, leading to a brief call-up during which he registered one assist over two games.
His trajectory within the Kraken’s prospect rankings has been rapid and pronounced, consistently showcasing his potential as a future NHL standout.
Mølgaard’s experience with the national team is extensive. He has donned the Danish colors at the World Championship three times, accumulating two goals and 11 points across 23 games. Additionally, he has represented Denmark in the World Junior qualifying tournament, as well as the U-18 qualifiers. Last year, he participated in all three Olympic qualifier games, although he did not record any points.
Team Denmark will feature a formidable lineup, including NHL stars such as Nikolaj Ehlers from the Carolina Hurricanes and Oliver Björkstrand, a former Kraken now with the Tampa Bay Lightning. While Denmark may be considered an underdog in the quest for Olympic medals, their triumphant upset of Canada at the 2025 World Championship is likely to bolster their confidence as they head into the Olympic arena.
