In a notable development for the Seattle Kraken, young forward Oscar Fisker Mølgaard has been named to Team Denmark’s roster for the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics. This recognition comes during his debut season in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Coachella Valley Firebirds, where the 20-year-old has made his mark, accumulating six goals and 18 points over the course of 28 games. His impressive two-way play has not only caught the attention of scouts but also earned him a brief stint in the NHL, where he registered one assist in two games.
Fisker Mølgaard’s ascent through the Kraken’s prospect rankings illustrates his potential as a future NHL player. His international experience is noteworthy; he has represented Denmark at the World Championships three times, accumulating two goals and 11 points in 23 games. Additionally, he competed in the World Junior qualifying tournament and the U-18 qualifiers, offering him a wealth of competitive experience. Last year, he participated in all three Olympic qualifier games, although he did not manage to score.
This year, Team Denmark boasts a roster that includes several NHL talents, such as Nikolaj Ehlers of the Carolina Hurricanes and Oliver Björkstrand, formerly of the Kraken and currently with the Tampa Bay Lightning. While Denmark faces an uphill battle for a medal at the Olympics, their stunning upset of Canada in the 2025 World Championship showcases their potential and should invigorate their confidence as they enter the Olympic arena.
