The Supreme Court publishes guidance on how much of a discount you can expect to get on your sentence if you confess.

Increased sentence reductions are intended to encourage more criminals to confess and thus ease the pressure on the courts. In a principled ruling based on a pair of underpants, the Supreme Court has now charted the reduction levels.

It did not receive much media attention when the Supreme Court ruled in case ’99/2024′ last month.

Nevertheless, a decision was made that day that is now expected to become a crowning document for the country’s defense lawyers. A document that they can keep at the top of their drawer when they are facing a defendant who is considering whether it will be worth the trouble to try to plead not guilty in a trial or simply confess.
