On a bustling Monday evening, Manchester United Women saw two of their players take to the international stage.
Fresh from a commendable 3-1 victory against Brazil, the Norwegian team faced off against Denmark in a friendly match that promised to showcase their evolving talent.
Lisa Naalsund
At 30 years old, Lisa Naalsund is finding her footing within the United first team this season, earning another well-deserved start for her country. She put in a full shift, clocking every minute of the goalless draw against Denmark.
While the match wasn’t her best outing in terms of offensive impact—failing to record any key passes and only completing 67% of her attempted passes—she did manage to create one scoring opportunity, though it was thwarted by Denmark’s resolute defense.
Defensively, Naalsund shone brighter, successfully winning three out of four tackles and dominating four ground duels during the contest.
Elisabeth Terland
Elisabeth Terland made headlines earlier this season with a string of impressive performances, netting several goals during the Champions League qualifiers. Her exploits have sparked discussions about extending her contract with United, ensuring her talents remain at the club for the long haul.
In the clash against Denmark, Terland was persistent, registering three shots, although one critical opportunity slipped away as a big chance missed. She tested the Danish keeper with another attempt, while a third was deflected away by the robust defense.
Despite struggling to break through on the dribble and completing just six of her ten passes, Terland demonstrated her versatility by contributing defensively. She won 100% of her tackling efforts and made a crucial clearance, alongside three ground duels and a solitary aerial win.
Both players will return to club duty when Manchester United Women take on West Ham United this Saturday in the Women’s Super League.
