Two breathtaking beaches from the Great Southern region of Western Australia have garnered national acclaim, earning spots on Lonely Planet’s list of the best beaches in the country.
Albany’s Misery Beach and the stunning Elephant Rocks at William Bay National Park, near Denmark, have both made it onto the travel guide’s prestigious top 100 list for Australia.
Remarkably, these gems are part of a select group of 20 beaches from Western Australia featured in the publication’s highlights.
In addition to the best beaches, Lonely Planet has also curated themed lists focusing on wildlife, camping, snorkelling, and family-friendly destinations.
According to the guide, Misery Beach is a prime choice for the “more adventurous” traveler and stands out as the fourth-best beach for bushwalking enthusiasts.
The top 100 list is unranked, but it includes other stunning West Australian locales such as The Basin on Rottnest Island, the crystal-clear waters of Turquoise Bay in Exmouth, and the picturesque Hellfire Bay within Cape Le Grand National Park.
Among the 20 beaches listed from WA, only one is situated in Perth, with Cottesloe Beach proudly retaining its title as the city’s favorite.
