Congressman Mike Flood Meets with Danish Ambassador and Greenland Representation
WASHINGTON, DC – In a pivotal meeting held today, U.S. Congressman Mike Flood welcomed Denmark’s Ambassador, Jesper Sorensen, alongside Jacob Isbosethsen, the Head of Greenland Representation, to his Washington office. The discussions centered on the enduring relationship between the nations and their commitment to the NATO alliance.
“I had the pleasure of meeting with the Ambassador and Mr. Isbosethsen to reaffirm our long-standing ties and explore collaborative efforts in the Arctic,” Flood remarked. He emphasized the readiness of the people of Denmark and Greenland to strengthen their partnership, particularly in light of increasing threats from Russia and China.
Flood expressed optimism about the capabilities of Secretary of State Marco Rubio, suggesting that he can forge a mutually beneficial diplomatic path with these vital allies. “The representatives from Denmark and Greenland were open to exploring any measures that would bolster U.S. security while honoring the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Denmark,” he noted.
Reflecting on the sentiments of President Trump’s remarks from last year, Flood quoted, “I also have a message… for the incredible people of Greenland. We strongly support your right to determine your own future, and if you choose, we welcome you into the United States of America.” He concluded with a hopeful wish for continued friendship and growing ties between the nations in the years to come.
